Political correspondent Rachel Scott and political director Rick Klein were on hand Sunday morning to break down the results of Saturday’s South Carolina Republican primary — which was called by multiple networks for former President Donald Trump within minutes of the polls closing.
“Donald Trump was so confident, he barely even campaigned in this state, delivering a crushing blow to Nikki Haley in a state that elected her to the governor’s mansion twice,” Scott said, noting that Trump had delivered a decisive victory despite the fact that his opponent was former Governor Nikki Haley (R-S.C.).

Klein observed that, at the end of the day, South Carolina voters just appeared to love what they were hearing from Trump: “Whether it’s immigration, whether it’s foreign policy, whether it’s the economy — Republican voters believe what Donald Trump is saying. CBS News, “Face the Nation”:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu joined CBS anchor Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation,” and she peppered him with questions about the civilian death toll in Gaza — despite the fact that those numbers often come from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry — and whether or not he would respond to growing concerns from other world leaders about the way Israel is moving ahead in the war with Hamas.
“What would America do?” Netanyahu responded with a question, adding that he did not believe the United States would hold back if faced with a similar attack to the October 7th massacre.
“Would you not be doing what Israel is doing? You’d be doing a lot more. And all Americans that I talk to, nearly all, say that.”

Netanyahu also told Brennan that victory could come within a matter of weeks — by which he meant the return of the hostages and the total annihilation of Hamas.
“Total victory is within reach,” he said. “The intense phase of the fighting is weeks away from completion, not months, weeks away.”

CNN, “State of the Union”:
Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) admitted during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she was unsure what to expect from Tuesday’s primary election — and she noted that the protest vote could prove damaging to President Joe Biden.
Whitmer was responding to some Democrats on the far Left who are angry with Biden’s continued support for Israel in the war against Hamas — such as Rep. Rashida Tlaib — who have called for primary voters to write “uncommitted” on their ballots on Tuesday.
“I’m not sure what we’re going to see on Tuesday,” Whitmer told anchor Dana Bash, adding, “I know that we have got this primary, and we will see differences of opinion. I just want to make the case, though, that it’s important not to lose sight of the fact that any vote that’s not cast for Joe Biden supports a second Trump term.”

NBC News, “Meet the Press”:
Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) brushed off questions from NBC’s Kristen Welker about whether or not he was preparing to jump into the presidential race, taking Biden’s place if the party deemed it necessary.
Newsom complained that it was only Republicans who wanted to have that conversation, calling it “idle chatter” and saying he had ruled out the possibility “100%.”
“It’s not even an interesting conversation,” he said.

FOX, “Fox News Sunday”:
“Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream hosted a joint conversation with Governor Jared Polis (D-CO) and Governor Kevin Stitt (R-OK) on the ongoing problems at the southern border.
Stitt said that the main thing that he wanted to see was the reimplementation of former President Trump’s Remain in Mexico policy, and Polis agreed that securing the border was important regardless of party affiliation.
“This isn’t a Democratic or Republican problem, this is an American problem,” he said.

Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki continued to attack former President Trump, hosting one of his former aides who admitted that she was open to casting a vote for Joe Biden if the 2024 election came down to a rematch between Biden and Trump.
“If it is a choice between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in a general election … even if I don’t agree with the policies of President Biden … I would cast my vote for him for democracy,” she said.

The former aide, Sarah Matthews, went on to comment about Trump’s rhetoric, comparing him to Hitler and arguing that he was getting more and more “unhinged.”
“He’s gotten more unhinged in his rhetoric. Obviously, Donald Trump’s first four years were marked by lots of controversies,” she said. “But I think that the type of rhetoric that he’s using today, it’s really concerning. It’s almost Hitler-esque.”
