Biden To Finally Visit Southern Border; Going On Same Day As Trump

President Joe Biden will travel to the U.S. southern border this week to meet with local officials who have been overwhelmed by the illegal immigration crisis during the Biden administration.

The New York Times reported that Biden will visit Brownsville, Texas, on the same day that former President Donald Trump was already scheduled to be at the border to survey the situation.

Biden’s visit comes after more than 7.2 million illegal aliens, a number greater than the population of 36 U.S. states, have flooded into the U.S. throughout his first three years in office.

The issue has become a serious threat to Biden’s re-election as polling has shown that the overwhelming majority of Americans disapprove of what is happening at the border, and they blame Biden for it.

The Trump campaign said in a statement that it was a “last-minute, insincere attempt to chase President Trump to the border.”

“Crooked Joe Biden has had three years to visit the border and fix the crisis he created,” said Karoline Leavitt, a Trump spokeswoman. “Now Biden’s handlers are sending him there on the same day as President Trump’s publicly reported trip, not because they actually want to solve the problem, but because they know Biden is losing terribly.”

Biden will reportedly attempt to blame House Republicans for the crisis even though the situation was largely just as bad during his first two years in office when Democrats controlled the entire federal government.

A White House official told POLITICO that Biden “will discuss the urgent need to pass the Senate bipartisan border security agreement, the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border in decades.”

“He will reiterate his calls for Congressional Republicans to stop playing politics and to provide the funding needed for additional U.S. Border Patrol agents, more asylum officers, fentanyl detection technology and more,” the official continued.

The U.S. House passed a bill nearly a year ago that included stronger measures to secure the border than the proposal that the U.S. Senate put forth, but Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will not take up the bill.
