Scathing Response From U.S. Holocaust Museum Puts Tim Walz in His Place

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz recently sparked outrage by likening illegal immigrants in his state to Anne Frank hiding from Nazis during World War II. Walz made the comment during a heated press briefing amid federal immigration crackdowns.

“We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside. Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank,” Walz said. This reckless statement drew a swift rebuke in a post on X from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.

“Anne Frank was targeted and murdered solely because she was Jewish. Leaders making false equivalencies to her experience for political purposes is never acceptable. Despite tensions in Minneapolis, exploiting the Holocaust is deeply offensive, especially as antisemitism surges.”

The Governor’s Long History of Dangerous Rhetoric

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has repeatedly used inflammatory rhetoric that endangers lives and poisons political discourse. His most notorious statements target ICE agents whom he has demonized in ways that echo historical atrocities. In May 2025, Walz called ICE “Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo,” likening them to the Nazi secret police infamous for brutality and terror. The Department of Homeland Security slammed the remark as “sickening” and “dangerous.” They noted that it contributed to a 1,300% spike in assaults on ICE officers. Such comparisons trivialize the Holocaust and are insulting to survivors who endured actual (not manufactured) suffering.

Beyond immigration, Walz has called for Democrats to “bully the sh*t out of Trump” and labeled him a “wannabe dictator.” He joked about expecting news of Trump’s death, drawing backlash for normalizing violent fantasies. In heated clashes with federal authorities, he described Minnesota as at “war” with the government and threatened National Guard deployment against ICE.

Governor Walz is Stoking the Violence in Minneapolis

Since the riots began in Minneapolis, Governor Walz has only poured gasoline on the fire. He is actively stoking violence rather than helping de-escalate the tense situation surrounding federal ICE operations. His inflammatory rhetoric has repeatedly painted law enforcement as aggressors, vilified federal agents, and framed the enforcement of immigration laws as “tyrannical oppression.” He demanded President Trump “pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota.” Furthermore, he labeled their actions a “horrific cruelty” and an “absolute abomination.” Such characterizations portray federal officers as brutal occupiers, not public servants enforcing laws. These lies embolden agitators who have already assaulted agents, including one incident where a protester allegedly bit off part of an officer’s finger.

By refusing to condemn protester violence unequivocally and amplifying narratives of federal “occupation” and “abduction,” Walz fuels division rather than fostering peace. True leadership would prioritize de-escalation, dialogue, and respect for law enforcement, not rhetoric that risks more bloodshed in Minneapolis streets. It’s time for Governor Walz to care less about criminal illegal aliens and more about US citizens and the brave members of law enforcement who risk their lives protecting them.
