CIA vaccine plans from the Cold War era just resurfaced, and boy, do they raise eyebrows. Imagine the spooks dreaming up ways to slip behavior-altering drugs right into routine shots. Yes, a 1952 memo floated the idea of hiding mind-bending chemicals in vaccinations to make people anxious, depressed, or just plain docile. It’s the kind of thing that makes you wonder if “protecting” the public was ever really the goal—or if control was the real jab.
An Unhealthy Artichoke
The document, titled “Special Research for Artichoke,” comes from Project Artichoke. This was the CIA’s early stab at mind control before MKUltra took over. Back in 1952, agents brainstormed chemicals that could mess with moods over time. They wanted stuff sneaky enough to hide in food, water, Coke, beer, liquor, or cigarettes. Then came the kicker:
these drugs “should also be capable of use in standard medical treatments such as vaccinations, shots, etc.”
The same folks preaching national security were scheming to turn everyday life into a drug induced hell.
Black Projects
Project Artichoke ran from 1951 to 1956. It focused on interrogation tricks, hypnosis, and drugs to break people down. LSD experiments and unwitting subjects later defined the infamous MKUltra. Yet this CIA vaccine idea stands out for its sheer audacity. Officials chased long-range effects: anxiety to keep folks on edge, or lethargy to crush resistance. They even eyed gases, electroshock, and oxygen tricks.
Congress Demands Transparency
Of course, most records from these programs vanished in 1973. Forty years ago Senator Frank Church embarrassed the CIA, exposing these black projects in the Church Committee. Consequently, CIA Director Richard Helms ordered them burned. Therefore, we rely on what survived FOIA releases. A few years after the committee wrapped up, Senator Church died from a rapidly moving pancreatic cancer. Don’t you hate it when that happens?
What Now?
Today, folks spot this old file and connect dots to modern distrust. Yet facts matter. No declassified evidence proves widespread vaccine drugging happened. But the CIA never leaves fingerprints. If they were to implement something like Artichoke, they have ways of covering their tracks. In short, this declassified gem exposes Cold War madness at its peak. The CIA war-gamed hiding mind drugs in shots meant to heal. There hasn’t been any serious oversight of the CIA since the mid 70s. Is it time for Congress to reexamine this Deep State agency?
